Dr. ZhaoHong Han is Associate Professor of Linguistics and Education in the TESOL Program of the Department of Arts and Humanities at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests are in second language learnability and the interface of second language acquisition and second language teaching. Her articles have appeared in a variety of journals and books in applied linguistics and second language education. She is the author of Fossilization in Adult Second Language Acquisition (2004, Multilingual Matters) and co-editor (with Terence Odlin) of Studies of Fossilization in Second Language Acquisition (2006, Multilingual Matters). She was the recipient of the 2003 International TESOL Heinle and Heinle Distinguished Research Award.

Kirby Grabowski
is a doctoral student in the Applied Linguistics program
at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research
interests include language assessment, pragmatics, and language
program evaluation. She is currently working on her dissertation
which focuses on the assessment of pragmatic knowledge.

Christine Jacknick a doctoral student in the Applied Linguistics
program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her academic
interests include classroom discourse and sociocultural theory. She
is currently researching the application of Activity Theory to
classroom discourse in preparation for her dissertation research.

Kung-Wan Philip Choong is a doctoral student in the TESOL program at
Teachers College, Columbia University. His research interests include
task-based language teaching and learning and curriculum design. He
is currently investigating the relationship between task complexity
and learner production. He is also coordinating the Community
Language Program at Teachers College.

Donna DelPrete is a doctoral student in the Applied Linguistics
program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her primary
research interest is in family discourse, particularly the discursive
practices of mothers and daughters. Other research interests include
gender and discourse and interactional sociolinguistics. She also
teaches undergraduate Italian, and is currently an adjunct professor
at William Paterson University in New Jersey.

His primary research interest is in second language assessment, particularly L2 motivation and washback. He is currently working on his dissertation proposal. He is currently an adjunct professor in the TESOL department at Hunter College.

is a doctoral student in the TESOL program at Teachers College, Columbia University. His research interests include teacher learning, sociocultural influences on language learning, and teacher/student interaction in the L2 classroom. He is currently a teacher educator in the Teachers College, Columbia University Summer TESOL Certificate Program and a teaching mentor for students in the M.A. TESOL Program.

Hiromi Noguchi is a doctoral student in the Applied Linguistics program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests are in the areas of cross-linguistic influences in SLA. She is currently researching the influence of L1 based conceptions on the use of L2 spatial expressions in preparation for her dissertation research.
